If only I could pick the winning powerball numbers, the way I can predict what people will do. The government (local, state, federal) protects the government, and we have Taxation Without Representation at every level. Everything about this country (United States) is a lie.

I took those photographs at the reservoir in Redding, CT this past week.

One can find unexpected gems when one least expects it. I've been to this lookout trail a few times, but this time, I discovered the Mark Twain Library in Redding, CT had set up this "Story Walk" along the path leading to the reservoir lookout platform (Saugatuck Universal Access Trail). Per their site: "STORYWALK® is an innovative way for all ages to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time."

This is 1 of 2 posts of photographs that I took in the woods on the south side of Glen Road (Route 53) near the intersection with Newtown Turnpike in Redding, CT this past week.

Those woods are part of the Centennial Watershed State Forest. The official trail map must be carried as one's permit for access to the area.

We've had some rain, but as of the last measurement, Connecticut still has D0, D1, and D2 drought conditions. (United States Drought Monitor - Connecticut)

I took these photographs in the area. A thin layer of ice formed on the reservoir due to the bitterly cold temperatures that moved in. Despite the chill, it was peaceful walking by the water. We're supposed to "warm up" to 46 F (7.7 C) by Monday.
