"Spring Daffodils" - Postcard

© All Rights Reserved

This week's Sunday Postcard Art theme was "Favourite Flowers" in "celebration of mother's (it's Mother's day in the UK)".

I used flowers that are the first signs of Spring where I live in the US. Daffodils and Crocuses are the first to appear, and they can survive under snowfall. A few weeks later, Bleeding Hearts start growing, but they can be damaged if frosts, freezing rain, etc. occur.

I created this using GIMP 2.10.38.

The vintage images are from an Internet search. (See the side of my blog for links.)

This week's Sunday Postcard Art theme was "Bloom And Grow".

Note: I've been getting errors trying to leave comments on blogs, but I don't know why. Deann left me a comment, saying I'm being marked as spam.

Featured in the weekly sampler.

I took that photograph in my flower garden this past week.

I bought the bulbs from Michigan Bulb Company a long time ago. Although they say these flowers bloom in Summer, mine, which are planted very close to the house basement foundation, grow in early Spring.

I liked how the light and shadows of the morning sunlight shining through the window blinds looked on these Daffodils that I have in a vase. I cut these in my flower garden a few days ago. Their beauty and perfection is cheerful to look at. Daffodils are one of the few flowers that Deer don't eat.

I took more photographs of the Daffodils I have in vases.

Having these beautiful flowers around me helps to brighten my spirits, as the coronavirus / covid-19 news continues to get worse each day where I am in the United States, and now also where others who I care about live.

To try to remain calm, the main thing I keep telling myself is this: me worrying will not change what is going to happen, so it's not helpful during this situation.

I took these photographs of some Daffodils in vases today. These were growing in my flower garden, but I decided to cut them and bring them inside, to have something cheerful to look at. Daffodils are one of the few flowers that Deer don't eat.

With each passing day now, the coronavirus / covid-19 news gets worse where I am in the United States. Having these beautiful flowers to look at lets me admire perfection in Nature, and provides some level of calming for me.

Snow on Daffodils - Photographs

I took these photographs of the Daffodils in my yard yesterday morning, April 16. As forecast, the rain storm changed to sleet/snow overnight, leaving a coating on my yard. So not only did the storm prevent me from seeing the Blood Moon during the early hours of April 16, it also may have killed my Bleeding Heart plants, which have significant growth and flower buds on them. I won't know how they are until a few more days go by.
