In some places, the water is still fully frozen over, but here, the ice has started to melt.

I don't know when common decency and respect for other people's property ceased to matter to people on this planet, but discarding trash within feet of our public drinking water supply is high on the list of examples of how despicable humankind has become. There were two empty glass bottles of Heineken beer, a broken one, and the original carton they came in, littered here. To whoever did this: you are a cancer on this planet.

This is 1 of 2 posts of photographs that I took at Burying Hill Beach in Westport, CT this past week.

These three brown ducks were gliding along peacefully in the water, although they continuously swilled their heads in both directions, scanning their surroundings. I got a few shots of them before a loud noise nearby caused them to take flight.

The first photograph is my entry for the following:

This is that "Painted Duck" that I have photographed a few times in this area. Her group was sleeping on the shore, but they all looked up when I came by.

These are some photographs that I took at Lake Mohegan in Fairfield, CT this past week.

The Fall foliage is just beginning to change color here, so most of the reflections in the water are from the green leaves.

The third photograph is actually the first in sequence of time. The Mallard Ducks had gone to shore when suddenly they took flight. A dog had come along and scared them away. Many people walk their dogs off leash at this park.

I was originally going to use the "Painted" Duck post for my first post, but I captured some stunning "portrait" photographs of this "Mallard Head" duck.

This was the Alpha Male in a group of four ducks. Two of the others were male Mallards, and one was a "Painted" female duck.

I first saw this male duck in February 2013.

This is 3 of 3 posts of photographs that I took near Mill Hollow Park in Fairfield, CT this past week.

For lack of a formal name for this duck species, I called it a "Painted" duck, like a Painted Pony horse. This female was in a group of four, with the other three being male Mallard ducks, although one of the males only had the metallic green head of a Mallard, while most of the rest of his body was brown.

The distinguishing features of this "Painted" duck was that she had a blue right eye and a brown left eye. She also had a white tear drop mark on the left side of her face. Both she and the "Mallard Head" duck were larger than the two standard size male Mallard ducks.

Ducks Reflection - Photograph

This is 8 of 8 posts of photographs of birds that I took at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan, CT this past week.

This was a pond further inside the cemetery. The pond was stagnant looking but I liked how the reflection of the ducks looked.
