"Witch Storm Brew" - Postcard

© All Rights Reserved

This week's Our Midweek Muse theme was "Witches".

I colored this Medieval witch image, but I don't like how it looks. I finally had to enforce my "pencils down!" rule.

I created this using GIMP 2.10.38.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful angel
Don't believe the lies they feed you
Started when we were younger
Tomorrow comes and goes before you know
So I just had to let you know
Beautiful, beautiful life right now
Beautiful, beautiful night right now

"Snake (SPA Guest Host)" - Postcard

This week I have the honor of guest hosting Sunday Postcard Art, and I chose the challenge theme "Snake."

When I originally proposed this as a theme idea, I had something in mind for it, but then forgot what it was, so I made a collage. I also didn't realize this year's Chinese New Year is the year of the snake.

It's a sad, sad situation

If you want to call me a stupid, self centered Anti-Vaxxer with regard to the covid-19 shot, then I can call you Pro Human Experimentation, or PHE for short. Is that label inaccurate about you, and maybe even hurtful? When you retract your misnomer with regard to the covid-19 shot, then I'll retract mine of you. But I won't hold my breath, the way Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti did at the January 2022 NFL playoff game, per what was no doubt a CDC covid-19 guideline. Because it's all about the Science, and I bow down to your Superior Intellect.

"Fallen Cherub" - Postcard

This week's Sunday Postcard Art theme was "Edgy." Except the meaning was to "focus on the edges and not the centre of the postcard" so this doesn't match the theme.

This is three of three in a set that I am loosely calling a Cherub Triptych.

My piece is a "cartoon" in the same vein as Charlie Hebdo cartoons. (Their "cartoon" offended me, but apparently some thought it was "funny" so, I too, can make cartoons that others might find offensive.) My piece is also free speech that is protected by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Snake In Basement! - Photograph

© All Rights Reserved

The "situation" in my basement has gone from bad to worse! I just went down there and saw a snake on the cement floor. I screamed and retreated back to the first floor of my house. (Then I went back down to take photos, from a safe distance.) I hate snakes. I think this is a gartersnake, which is allegedly harmless, but it got my heart racing when I saw it!

"From Connecticut With Love" - Postcard

© All Rights Reserved

The idea for this art piece came to me Sunday morning (3/29/2020). It depicts two submarines with New York (NY), New Jersey (NJ), and Connecticut (CT) flags, as well as the United States (US) flag. A snake is riding in the lead submarine, with the message "Don't Tread On Us!" beneath the water. A triskelion logo with the words "NY NJ CT Tri-State Coalition" radiates sunbeams. The message "From Connecticut With Love" is a play on words from the James Bond movie "From Russia With Love."

In case you missed it this past weekend, on Saturday morning, March 28, 2020, a mere two days after US President Trump said he would reopen the US by Easter Sunday (April 12), Trump both tweeted and stated, "I am giving consideration to a QUARANTINE of developing “hot spots”, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut."

New York (NY) Governor Cuomo's response to Trump's quarantine threat was to state, "I don't think it's legal," and that it would be a, "federal declaration of war."

Apparently after that, someone explained to Trump what powers the US President does and does NOT have. So later that night, in order to save face, Trump had the CDC issue a toothless, meaningless Domestic Travel Advisory for New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. The tri-state coalition was already doing what the CDC "urged" them to do, starting one week earlier! And the CDC stated, "The Governors of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut will have full discretion to implement this Domestic Travel Advisory." The CDC had to state that, because the US President does not have the authority to implement what was in the Domestic Travel Advisory, but clearly he had every intention of usurping that power!

For those who don't know it, Connecticut is the proud manufacturer of submarines. We even have a museum for the retired USS Nautilus:

Groton, CT - Submarine Force Museum - USS Nautilus Museum

I might print and mail a copy of this postcard to Governor Cuomo. To me, he is the only person who sounds like a Leader and like a President during this coronavirus covid-19 situation.

"Song Lyrics - I'm A Mess" - Postcard

© All Rights Reserved

This week's Three Muses challenge was "Illustrate Song Lyrics."

My inspiration song lyrics were from I'm A Mess by Bebe Rexha. The lyrics are here. The sound track video is here:  I'm A Mess - Bebe Rexha. (Note: I have not watched the video of the song. I like hearing the song, but not seeing the video itself, so the content may be offensive, for which I apologize.)

I created this using GIMP 2.10.6.

The vintage images are from an Internet search. (See the side of my blog for links.)

For a long time, song lyrics have touched me. It could be only a few words, one sentence, several sentences, or the whole song that has a meaning to me when I hear it. I rarely watch the videos for songs that I like, because I have my own imagination of what the song means and the videos don't match it.

-----

Note: the below paragraphs are not about anyone in my blog world.

You know what is worse than someone who doesn't listen to what you tell them? Someone who thinks that they know you better than you know yourself and tells you their incorrect assessment but insists that they are right and you are wrong. A close second, or perhaps a tie with that, is someone who tells you how you should react to something. Even better than that is when that same person doesn't do as they tell you to do in reacting to the exact same situation. Do as I say, not as I do.

I would love for all of the experts in my life, who know me better than I know myself, to tell me what they THINK this song means to me, which parts of the song touch me, and which parts don't. And then those same geniuses can tell me what my art piece means, since they know better than I do everything about me.

But people don't like to be around negative people, and they feel that way even more strongly during the holidays. Today is Thanksgiving Day in the United States, a time when families get together with their loved ones to share a meal. The irony of the significance of today's past and the present isn't lost on me.

Some of what I write may make no sense. It's out of focus with the eye. It's been tough getting out of bed. I've woken up feeling hung over every day this week because I've been having trouble sleeping. I needed to talk to that guy. He was there two years ago. But the Wall is up and I'm on the outside looking in. I wonder if I was drowning, would they lend a hand? Maybe the Ouija Board Medium knows the answer.

I can't escape this now
I say it's up to fate

After my Jun 1 edict, I did what I do best: I tried to appease AH's team, to open a dialog. That bore no fruit, and today one of their allies stymied my attempt to seek assistance. So I see where I stand in their eyes: on the other side. The window of opportunity with them is now closed. Let's have a Medium ask the Ouija Board what's going to happen next.
