This week's Our Midweek Muse theme was "Rainbow".

I found the poem about rainbow gold in my stash first, so then I went where my muse took me.

I created this using GIMP 2.10.34

The vintage images are from an Internet search. (See the side of my blog for links.)

This week's Sunday Postcard Art challenge was "Pastel Steampunk."

These are two additional postcards that I made, which are very similar to the ones here. I don't think either piece actually looks like steampunk. I finally had to enforce my "paint brush down" time limit rule.

I created this using GIMP 2.10.18.

"Bird Butterfly Rainbow" - Postcard

This week's Sunday Postcard Art challenge was "Rainbows."

I started this by making a pastel rainbow background. Next, I added rainbow colored text and polka dots that faded as they went from the bottom to the top. Then I placed two poems about rainbows on this. I used a bird for a focal point, and included a butterfly.

I created this using GIMP 2.8.22.

The vintage images are from an Internet search. (See the side of my blog for links.)

Featured in the weekly sampler.

Full Double Rainbow - Pictures

I took these pictures of a full double rainbow around sunset last night, in Shelton CT. The pictures didn't come out too well, because it was still raining, and the second rainbow is hard to see, but I wanted to share this stunning sight. We had a heat wave here for the past few days, until a line of thunderstorms came through to break it. The skies were still storm cloud filled when the sun emerged close to its descent. The double rainbow made a complete arc, touching the horizon on both sides.

Double Rainbow - I91 Springfield MA

This picture pales in comparison to the actual view I had of this full double rainbow. I took several pictures of it through the windshield of a moving vehicle on Interstate 91 in the Springfield MA area yesterday.

"Over the Rainbow"

This week’s Sunday Postcard Art challenge was “Over the Rainbow.” The only thing I could think of was the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from the Wizard of Oz. I googled the lyrics and used the words about “bluebirds fly” to come up with an idea for my theme. I created a double rainbow because I think they look cool when they occur. (Note: I misread the hint, which I thought only said “over the rainbow.")
