"Crazy Architecture" - Postcard

© All Rights Reserved

The July 27 My Soul's Dark Imagination theme was "Crazy Architecture".

I based this on a poem, but took some poetic licencse with it, because that is not a pine tree.

I created this using GIMP 2.10.38.

The vintage images are from an Internet search. (See the side of my blog for links.)

-----

THE PINE LADY

O have you seen the Pine Lady,
Or heard her how she sings?
Have you heard her play
Your soul away
On a harp with moonbeam strings?
In a palace all of the night-black pine
She hides like a queen all day,
Till a moonbeam knocks on her secret tree,
And she opens her door with a silver key
While the village clocks
Are striking bed
Nine times sleepily.

O come and hear the Pine Lady,
Up in the haunted wood!
The stars are rising, the moths are flitting,
The owls are calling,
The dew is falling;
And, high in the boughs
Of her haunted house
The moon and she are sitting.

Out on the moor the night-jar drones
Rough-throated love,
The beetle comes
With his sudden drums
And many a silent unseen thing
Frightens your cheek with its ghostly wing;
While there above,
In a palace builded of needles and cones,
The pine is telling the moon her love,
Telling her love on the moonbeam strings —
O have you seen the Pine Lady?
Or heard her how she sings!

Run away, but we're running in circles
And I still hear the echoes (The echoes)
I got a feeling that it's time to let it go, let it go

Seaside Sanatorium Ship Weathervane - Photograph

This is 1 of 3 posts of photographs that I took at Seaside Sanatorium in Waterford, CT this past week.

The area is now a Connecticut State Park, but the buildings themselves are surrounded by chain link fence to prevent trespassing. Unfortunately in the past, vandals broke windows and sprayed graffiti on the inside and outside.

Birds were perched on the ship weathervane, as well as the gables of the side building. The site is beautiful, with scenic views of Long Island Sound.

Seaside Sanatorium was "originally built as a facility to treat children with tuberculosis," and "has had a long history serving as a medical facility."

These are some photographs that I took of a house near Whittemore Sanctuary in Woodbury, CT about a month ago.

I love houses with character, and this one had plenty. It reminded me of what I imagined a haunted house would look like when I was a child.

National Hall building, Westport, Connecticut - Photograph

This is 6 of 6 posts of some photographs that I took during a walk on the Riverwalk in Westport, CT this past week.

This post is actually of photos taken on the street near the Riverwalk.

The first two photographs are of the National Hall building in Westport, Connecticut, "an 1873 three-story Italianate structure," at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 33. Both sides of the bridge over the Saugatuck River are lined with US flags for most/all of the year. (I'm not 100% sure about Winter.) The third photograph is of the backside of the building across the street, which has a matching brick / color scheme.

The National Hall building has been many things over the years.

The first photograph is my entry for the following:
