The Priory - Picture

This is 1 of 4 posts of pictures I took around Yale in New Haven, CT on January 01, 2013.

There was something about this sign that caught my eye. Maybe it was the bright color contrasted against the mostly white background, or perhaps it was the unique look to it.

This photograph is my entry for Weekly Top Shot #64.

This placard was embedded in the wall of Sheffield-Sterling-Strathcona Hall (1 Prospect St, New Haven, CT), on the side facing Hillhouse Avenue. Two of the gothic arch door photographs I took were here too.

This is City Hall in New Haven. What an architecturally stunning building in which to work! I wasn't able to get a good full photograph of this.

"Door" - Postcard

This week’s Sunday Postcard Art challenge was "Doors."

I used a picture I had taken of a door at Yale in New Haven, CT on October 3, 2010. I then applied G'MIC Filter: Colors - Local Normalization to make the photograph look like it was taken a long time ago.

"Doorways" – Pictures

This week’s Inspiration Avenue challenge was "Doorways and Windows" and what we think is going on behind them.

These are two pictures I took at Yale in October 2010, and one picture I took in the Southport CT harbor area in July 2012. When I think of Yale, I think of the cliche "hallowed learning" which is what I imagine goes on behind those doors. The gate makes me imagine a tranquil, serene setting behind it, where all of one's worries are left outside the gate. Right now I could use a place like that.

I took this picture at Yale in New Haven CT yesterday. The beauty of this door caught my eye first, but then I saw the words. I felt a sense of sadness at the loss of the original lab building.

"Yale"

© All Rights Reserved
This week’s Sunday Postcard Art challenge was “School.” I created a postcard showing an incoming Yale freshman student, with a reflection back on his early days in school. (I chose Yale because it’s just up the coast from me, about 30 minutes away, in New Haven, CT.)
