This is 1 of 4 posts of photographs that I took at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan, CT this past week.

Posts 1 and 2 show this stunning looking bird I was able to photograph (for the first time). It is a Killdeer and is in the Plovers family of birds.

You can see it doing its "broken wing act" in my second blog post.

This bird (and the few others I saw) were making the deet-deet-deet call sound.

In the second photograph, this Killdeer is doing its "broken wing act." I wondered why this bird was fluttering its wings as it crouched low to the ground: now I know. This bird does a ""broken-wing" act, in which it flutters along the ground in a show of injury, luring intruders away from its nest."

I took this photograph Memorial Day Weekend at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan, CT.

This Northern Mockingbird stood on this gravestone for several minutes. You can see the American Flags in the background.

I was thrilled when this American Bittern Green Heron flew into the pond where the Great Blue Heron was. I got many great photographs of him, and had to pare down what I posted to only a few of them.

This Great Blue Heron was in the pond at the back entrance to the cemetery. I didn't get many good photos of him because he flew off unexpectedly while I was photographing the American Bittern Green Heron.

I'm not sure what type of bird this is. He was only on the branch for a few seconds so I was lucky to have been able to get this shot of him.

This was a pond further inside the cemetery. The pond was stagnant looking but I liked how the reflection of the ducks looked.

This was the first time I've been to this beautiful, tranquil place. All of the flowering trees must look stunning in the Spring and early Summer. My primary focus was to photograph the birds here, so I didn't spend much time on the cemetery's gravestones and mausoleums. I need to make several return trips here, to see everything.
