This week's Sunday Postcard Art theme was "Favourite Flowers" in "celebration of mother's (it's Mother's day in the UK)".

I used flowers that are the first signs of Spring where I live in the US. Daffodils and Crocuses are the first to appear, and they can survive under snowfall. A few weeks later, Bleeding Hearts start growing, but they can be damaged if frosts, freezing rain, etc. occur.

I created this using GIMP 2.10.38.

I took that photograph in my yard this past week.

This year, my only red Old Fashioned Bleeding Hearts plant isn't doing too well. I'm not sure if part of the problem is the plant is now being overshadowed by a bush that has started growing larger due to it getting more sunshine after five trees fell back in August 2020 due to Tropical Storm Isaias. I have a few other pink bleeding heart plants in a second flower bed, that never did well, so I might move all of them to a better location.

Pink Fern Bleeding Hearts Flowers - Photograph

I took that photograph in my yard this past week. Unlike Old Fashioned Bleeding Hearts, the Fern type has flowers from Spring until the first frost of the Fall season. The little black seeds that form inside the flowers can be sprinkled around on the ground, and will grow in the Spring, after going through a Winter season.
