I took this photograph of the Black Swan (with clipped wings) at the Reservoir in Easton, CT while it was snowing here earlier this week. None of my photos came out good, but this one almost looked like an impressionist painting, so I decided to post it.

I went back to the Reservoir in Easton, CT yesterday and got more photographs of this beautiful Black Swan that has joined a group of Mute Swans. Thanks to fellow bird lovers from around the world, who left comments on my previous posts of photos of this bird, I learned it is not a native species in the United States. After doing a little research, I discovered that people in this country clip the wings of Black Swans, to keep them as exotic pets. I notified an official about the presence of this bird and my concern for its safety once the water freezes, because it would be unable to fly away from predators. He told me they had already seen it, determined it did indeed have clipped wings, and they had notified a rescue group, which will capture and relocate it to a safe haven.

I took this photograph at Sherwood Island State Park as the sun was setting in Westport, CT this past week.

The horizon was almost fog like because a weather front was moving in.

This is 1 of 3 posts of photographs that I took of a Black Swan at the Reservoir in Easton, CT this past week.

Perseverance paid off, and I was finally able to time my visit to the reservoir coincident with when this Black Swan was swimming around and close enough to photograph clearly. I've seen this Black Swan with a group of Mute Swans, but not all of the time. Usually I see only the Mute Swans.

I liked the contrast of the golden colors in these, which were shot as the sun was starting to set. The mottled Mute Swan is one of the cygnets that were born in the Spring, and was preening in this shot.
