Second on the 2nd: Skull and Cross Bones Gravestone

This is my entry for Altered Book Lover Bleubeard and Elizabeth's "Second on the 2nd" theme. Today is Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead, so I thought this skull gravestone from October 2015 would be fitting.

Below is the contents of my original blog post, that I am sharing again today:

This is 2 of 4 posts of photographs that I took at Greenfield Hill Cemetery in Fairfield, CT this past week.

This skull and cross bones gravestone is my favorite one! Unfortunately lichen is covering part of the bone, which was clear back in May of 2011.

This gravestone is on the left side of the cemetery, relative to the center entrance.

Yup, it is quite fitting. And very New England which I love. Happy Saturday. Hope it's not too cold there. Hugs-Erika

Oh Anne, I love, love, love this. It is absolutely PERFECT for Dia de Muertos AND for a second look on the 2nd. It's obvious I've not seen it before, so I was glad you chose it for sharing today. Thanks for joining me with your second look on the 2nd, Anne.

Awesome skull with wings. A common funeral motif from 17th and 18th c. called Winged Death.

A bit scary. But once we´re gone, we´re gone...
