"T Stands For Teddy, Tea, and Spooky Trails Book" – Photograph

© All Rights Reserved

I am joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth for this week's T Stands For challenge found here.

This is my summation of the past week:

Teddy will be serving double duty as my main image plus as my "T-Day ticket" for my T-Day posts.

As many of you might know, ghosts, haunted locations, etc. are a favorite subject of mine. I have never experienced anything supernatural, but I enjoy searching for it during my Haunted Explorations of (allegedly) Haunted Places.

I received the non-fiction book Spooky Trails and Tall Tales Connecticut: Hiking the State's Legends, Hauntings, and History by Stephen Gencarella, as a Christmas gift this year. (He also has a similar book for Massachusetts).

He combines historical facts and tales with the actual locations where one can go hiking. He presents the information in a fun way, and made me chuckle a few times as I read this book. Many of the haunted stories seemed to be created (or revived) to boost tourism in the state in those places, in the early decades of the 1900s, which was interesting to learn.

I'm hoping to get to some of the places he mentioned as hiking outings with Team T, this Spring. Although Connecticut is one of the smallest states in the US, some of the locations are somewhat far from where I am, so they would have to be planned as day trips. Teddy is already saying the ghosts are real in all of these places, and we need to go find them! I told Teddy he should write his own book, titled Teddy Tall Tales. ;-)

Aspetuck Park (Flood Waters After Rain Storm) - Photograph

I took those photographs at Aspetuck Park in Easton, CT this past week. Parts of the park were flooded due to the 1.5"+ of rain that fell in this area. Normally, the base of the wood platform (third photo) is visible, as can be seen here. Although it's hard to tell in the second photo, the water was level with, and went around, that side of the bridge. The leaf debris on the bridge shows the water had been higher than that, at the height of the storm.

Morning Sky After Storm - Photograph

I took that photograph of the sky this morning, around sunrise. Once again, where I am in Connecticut, the temperature remained warm enough for the latest storm to be mostly rain. At one point, snow was falling, but then it changed back to rain. Overnight, we were forecast to get 1" to 2" of rain, which would've been 10" to 20" of snow.

"T Stands For Teddy, Cocoa, and The Hound Of The Baskervilles" – Photograph

I am joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth for this week's T Stands For challenge found here.

This is my summation of the past week:

Teddy will be serving double duty as my main image plus as my "T-Day ticket" for my T-Day posts.

This past week, I finally took Teddy and his "cousin", Halloween Teddy, on the long awaited and promised outing to the Hound of the Baskerville Woods, as Teddy calls it. This time, we didn't hear the disembodied howl of the ghost hound that we had heard the first time we walked there. (We left "Minnie T" home, because Teddy said it would be too scary for him. ;-)

The Hound of the Baskervilles is one of my favorite Sherlock Holmes stories (the text can be read at Project Gutenberg here), and the book was a Christmas gift this year, as was the tin of peppermint cocoa. Teddy said another one of his cousins was the model for the bear on the tin. ;-)

Reply to Tom the Intolerant Hateful Bully

Reply to Tom the Intolerant Hateful Bully

"How ironic" that an intolerant, name calling bully named Tom would leave me a disparaging comment, without having the courage to provide a link back to him, for me to be able to reply directly to him.

Apparently I’m only allowed to have an opinion if it agrees with Tom’s opinion, otherwise his hateful side comes out, and he disparages and berates me with assumptions about me. And he sought out my blog: I didn’t leave a comment for him first, nor do I know who he is, due to his cowardice.

Tom called me an "antivaxxer" so apparently he assumes I did not get the covid-19 vaccine, because "antivaxxer" is an acceptable slur for the "tolerant" to use.

And what did I do to offend Tom? I dared to express MY opinion on MY blog about the New York City Dec 31, 2022 New Year's Eve Celebration / Times Square Ball Drop happening once again, just like it did in 2020, when the "Never Forget 9/11/2001" memorial service (in September 2020) was canceled, despite covid-19 cases in New York City being significantly higher at the end of December 2020, compared to September 2020. And this time, in 2022, New York City has a "Tridemic" that is "overwhelming healthcare systems", but even that wouldn’t interfere with the money to be made at this annual event.

Entertainment is Non-Essential. When the covid-19 lock downs began in the United States in 2020, the list of Essential Businesses that must remain open was much longer than the list of those Businesses that were Non-Essential. Facts aren’t "resentment and cynicism", they are FACTS. The Times Square Ball Drop is Entertainment.

In the past, slurs were used about groups of people, to denigrate them. Present day people now declare that those slurs are offensive words to use, yet some of those same people think using slurs like "anti-vaxxer" and "anti-masker" is acceptable to do.

I can find common ground and admire people’s artwork, photographs, etc. even if I don’t agree with some of the opinions they express on their blogs, because I don’t expect everyone to agree with all of my opinions, nor do I require them to. But the same has not been shown to me, by some of the bloggers who claim to be the tolerant, good, "nice" people.

People like Tom are the reason why last year (2022) I made my blog private and disabled comments for awhile. Because some of the people who claim to be the tolerant, "hate has no home here" "diversity is our strength" "all are welcome" "words hurt" people, are actually intolerant, sanctimonious haters of anyone who doesn't agree with their opinion.

I don’t claim to be anything, nor do I preach about "strive to forgive and to love" the way Tom does. If people want to make assumptions about quotes that they see on my blog, they are the ones assuming what meaning, if any, those quotes have to me.

This is the comment that Tom left me, on my "New Year's Eve" blog post:

Tom said...

How ironic the antivaxxer finds fault with NYC having a NYE celebration and posts negative Covid rant to start off the new year? Reject resentment and cynicism that bothersome fly that keeps coming back. If we do not strive to forgive and to love then we will not be forgiven and loved either.

Proverbs 18:21 KJV – Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

The Book of Days 2023

I'm doing my Book of Days theme again for 2023.

My only rules for myself are Keep It Simple (KIS) and Have Fun.

The challenge involves using a weekly planner. I purchased a Rachel Parcell Blue Sky 5" x 8" Weekly & Monthly Planner January to December 2023. It has less pages than the Cupcakes and Cashmere one that I bought in previous years, but cost more money. I couldn't find the Cupcakes and Cashmere one that I usually get.

I re-used the 2" x 1.5" tabs template that I created with GIMP, and reused the divider tabs that I made for 2019, then printed them on card stock paper, cut them out, and Elmer's glue sticked them into the planner.

The weekly challenge themes are listed below, and I will add links to my entries as I create them. My weeks start on Monday. This blog entry will serve as my master index to them.
