I took these photographs of a cormorant and a seagull on the masts of a ship in the pier in Cape Cod, Provincetown, MA this past week.

The cormorant chased the seagull away and landed on its perch.

This is 1 of 2 posts of photographs I took at Pine Creek Marsh in Fairfield, CT yesterday.

I startled this Double-crested Cormorant as we both came into view of each other. I was barely able to raise my camera and snap this shot of him in time. I was thrilled that it came out in focus and showed multiple splash rings in the water. This was definitely one of those "once in a lifetime" shots for me.

This is 3 of 7 posts of photographs I took at the Reservoir in Easton, CT on Aug 23, 2013.

These photos were taken in two different nearby locations, so these might be two different birds. I spotted the head of the first Double-crested Cormorant as he swam through the water. From a distance, it looked similar to a miniature Loch Ness Monster head. Then it rose out of the water and flew toward the second location where I took the rest of my photos.

This is 4 of 4 posts of photographs I took this past week at Perry's Mill Pond in Fairfield, CT.

I realized the first time I ever saw this type of bird was in July of 2011, but it was too far away for me to be able to know what it was.

These are photographs I took of two Double-crested Cormorant birds I saw this past week, at the reservoir in Easton, CT. It was such a thrill to see this bird species for the first time! The first photograph is a little blurry, but it was the best close up I was able to get.
