This week's Our Midweek Muse theme was "How Was Your Winter".
I am hoping that a picture tells a thousand words, and that my art piece shows how my Winter was. And Winter is not done yet: although rare, Connecticut can get snow in April.
I live in the southwest coastal area of Connecticut, which is also called the "tri-state" area of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Because Connecticut has Long Island Sound, and the rest of the "tri-state" has the North Atlantic Ocean, our snow is typically "wet" snow. Having grown up here, I never knew that nice, light, fluffy snow, that states like Utah get, even existed until I was older: the snow here is usually heavy like cement. ;-)
This Winter has been unusually cold, unusually windy, and in addition to "normal" snowfall events, we have had two major snow storms that each dumped about 1.5 feet (0.4572 meters) of snow on us. During the first 1.5 foot storm, because the temperature was much lower than freezing, it was light, fluffy snow, except where I live, it ended as sleet / freezing rain, so there was an ice crust on top. During the second 1.5 foot storm, the temperature was close to freezing, so it was heavy, wet snow. And to add insult to injury: that snow stuck to the snow shovel like glue.
My name for my 2025-2026 Winter is: The Winter From Hell.
I created this using GIMP 2.10.38.
The vintage images are from an Internet search. (See the side of my blog for links.)

Since Winter isn't quite over, my Winter sux
ReplyDeleteThe "Winter from hell" indeed. I have followed your weather all winter. I think you got all our snow and everybody's in between. You poor dear. I hope this is a very temporary pattern.
ReplyDeleteYour card is wonderful it expresses your plight very effectively. Well done my friend.
Brr that image makes me feel cold ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
What a disaster a hellish winter!
ReplyDeleteThis image really captures what you've been through where you live.
The winter has been harsh in many places this year.
Let's hope spring will be happy and cheerful.
