"Old Book Page Art 2" - Postcard

© All Rights Reserved

This week's Sunday Postcard Art challenge theme was "Old Book Pages."

I'm only entering this one, but I made two pieces with the only difference being the book text page that I used for the "found poetry style statement." My inspiration piece was the "Altered Book Art Project" found on this "old book art examples" webpage.

I especially liked this line on my piece: "The storm lay there gasping for breath on the shadowy moon."

All of the "found poetry style" lines are:

"Black abysses beyond its edges."
"Broad steps sank into the wall."
"The storm lay there gasping for breath on the shadowy moon."
"Men raced, bent on finding who had fled."
"The duke supplied time."
"The rest recovered from the mad race."

I created this using GIMP 2.10.24.

The vintage images are from an Internet search. (See the side of my blog for links.)

All of the "found poetry style" lines are:

"The glow from her lantern enveloped her."
"Spattering raindrops whizzed in the inky sky."
"The tree-tops tried to flee the arduous journey."
"The essence of slowness assailed her with terrors."
"Ghosts, witches, hobgoblins, cheered on by the shrieking wind, carried her higher up the mountain."

I took that photograph in my yard this past week. I forgot to photograph this last year. I have this near the bird feeder. The Baltimore Oriole couple from last year has returned (at least I think it's the same one), but so far they have eluded my attempts to photograph them.

I took that photograph in my yard this past week. That is some type of ground cover that grows on a rock ledge in a shaded area. I liked how it looked in the waning sunlight.

This week's Sunday Postcard Art challenge theme was "Gnomes."

I didn't know when I made this that a Chinese booster rocket body (CZ-5B R/B - Norad 48275U) would be tumbling uncontrollably back to Earth, with a less than one percent chance of crashing into Connecticut US. As of about 8:35am (my local time) this morning, it is predicted to crash at 10:25pm (my local time) tonight, somewhere on Earth. But that prediction time will most likely change, as the impact time gets closer.

May 9, 2021 update: China said their booster rocket body crashed into the ocean near the Maldives.

I took those photographs at the Audubon Larsen Wildlife Sanctuary in Fairfield, CT this past week.

And just like that, most of the leaves on the trees and bushes burst open in brilliant green. Unlike the Dogwood tree flowers, the green tree leaves are about on schedule for when they normally leaf out here. The beauty of all of this green everywhere is stunning, as it is every year, after Winter's barren look.

The dogwood flowers were about one to two weeks early this year, so they were already past their peak when I came here.

I took those photographs of the Old Fashioned Bleeding Hearts in my flower garden this past week. All but one of my plants have pink flowers. This plant has red ones, but I don't recall if I bought it knowing that's what color they would be, or if it was a lucky accident.

Apparently these long abandoned houses are for sale. If I found the correct ad for it, for a mere $699,000, this place could be yours! I'm unsure if that price tag includes what looks like an artists' rendition of what the houses will look like after they have been repaired, or if that is the "as is" price. :-o Either way, it's too expensive for me to afford.

I took those photographs at the reservoir in Easton, CT this past week.

Wow, just wow! You don't see this every day. I don't know who thought this rube goldberg rope repair was safe, but there you have it. This looks like a vehicle versus pole accident aftermath, where they put in the replacement pole, but haven't yet moved all of the wires (including electricity) to it. I felt very uneasy walking underneath this, to get to the other side, where the view of the reservoir is.
