"T Stands For Teddy Perusing Periodicals" - Photograph

I am joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth for this week's T Stands For challenge found here.

This is my summation of the past week:

Teddy continues to volunteer to get the mail out of the mailbox for me. Then I wondered where my magazines were, and I discovered Teddy reading them. Teddy said the cover had a Spring like appearance, and he wanted to find out about what's trending in home, garden, and food, per the article teaser.

Teddy offered to pose with the Stop and Shop flyer, so we could get our beverage credit in. Teddy said he was thrilled and excited to learn from Elizabeth that having something that contained a picture of a drink counted as our ticket into the gathering. (I told Teddy we already knew that, and let's not revisit the voucher debacle.) Then he muttered something about still hoping to get a spokesperson position with the grocery store chain.

We continue to get lucky with the weather, and got spared the brunt of the winter storms that went through this past week. One was even all rain, instead of snow, thankfully. But now (2/25) it's very windy, with gusts as high as 50 mph. And more snow is forecast for later this week.

I made two moo art pieces this week. I haven't made them since 2015, and I forgot how fun they are to make. And I found some Photoshop powder brushes to use, to qualify for the Try it on Tuesday challenge theme.

Then artist's block returned, so now I'm struggling to make artwork for the challenge themes.

Addendum: I urge everyone on blogger to read this post by Lavender Dreams. After 10 years of activity, Google deleted her blog without any warning! It's troubling and concerning, to say the least.

This is my third entry, and another moo (instead of my usual postcard artwork). I forgot how fun a moo size is. I haven't made any since 2015.

I used some Photoshop Powder brushes from Deviantart in the background of this, so I'm also using it as my second entry at Try it on Tuesday where the challenge was "Powder your..."

Lately most of my public domain images have been coming from archive.org, but I also use the Library of Congress and the New York Public Library, as well as other sites.

"T Stands For Teddy With A Meal Voucher" - Photograph

I am joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth for this week's T Stands For challenge found here.

This is my summation of the past week:

Recently Teddy volunteered to start getting the mail out of the mailbox for me. I didn't suspect he had an ulterior motive. Then Teddy told me we had received a voucher for a free meal up to $50. I told Teddy that sounded too good to be true. He handed me the postcard that came in the mail, addressed to me, but which he had opened (in violation of Federal laws ;-). At face value, it appeared Teddy was correct. Then I noticed the fine print: $50 off a meal that cost at least $100. Teddy was disappointed when I broke the news to him, and said he considered this mailing to be somewhat deceptive. I couldn't disagree with him on that point. But Teddy learned an important lesson: all that glitters is not gold.

Teddy said despite his lesson learned, he liked his photos with the voucher, and didn't want to pose with a drink, so he said I needed to create an artwork piece as our ticket into the T-Day gathering again. So I went in search of tea, found a teapot, and created this.

Tuesday and Tuesday night (Feb 12) we had another snow storm: snow, sleet, then freezing rain. Teddy helped me shovel the driveway Wednesday morning (Feb 13). The snow was water logged so it was like shoveling cement. Our feet got wet again because our boots are no longer water proof, and the stores already sold out their winter inventory, so we couldn't find a new pair for this season.

Thursday was Valentine's Day and I posted some artwork that I made for it.

I made more story people collage artwork. And this week's Sunday Postcard Art theme was "masquerade" so I created this for it.

On Saturday, we watched Unearthly Stranger (1963), which another blogger had mentioned (I don't remember who). If you like science fiction movies, I recommend seeing it. We finished up our weekend by watching D.O.A. (1949) on Sunday. If you like classic old movies, I recommend seeing it.

Feb 19 follow up note: After seeing Elizabeth's comment, I took another look at the photo of the voucher, and spotted the glass of wine. I asked Teddy if he knew that was on there, and he just turned away, without answering. So I suspect she may be right, about Teddy trying to make more work for me. :-)

"T Stands For Teddy With Ikea Candles" - Photograph

© All Rights Reserved

I am joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth for this week's T Stands For challenge found here.

Teddy wanted to share with everyone the scented Ikea candles that we got this past week. It was a small indulgence to brighten things up as we creep toward Spring. Ikea has great prices (as in low / affordable) on scented candles. I got some SINNLIG Scented tealight, Tropical pineapple, yellow candles for $2.99/30 pack, and some BLOMDOFT Scented block candle, Sweet pea, light orange candles for $4.99/3 pack. (Note: I can confirm the tea lights burn for almost 4 hours, as Ikea says.)

The yellow tealights have a subtle scent that isn't too overpoweringly sweet the way some fruit scented candles are. And the pink candles have a soft but heavenly flower scent that definitely makes me think of Spring. This Winter we've had two arctic blasts so far, that brought unseasonably bitter cold temperatures that I think many (all?) of us would prefer to do without.

We wrote a tutorial on how to use the Crop Tool in GIMP. I use the term "we" loosely because someone who shall remain nameless insisted on getting partial credit for writing the blog post even though he merely "starred" in the photos used for it. His name begins with "T" if you couldn't guess who I'm talking about. :-)

Teddy suggested I start keeping a mini-journal about his, then he corrected himself and said "our" activities during the week, for our T-Day post. I told him so far he hasn't been photographed with a drink, so we need to work on that next. Teddy said he doesn't think he's been shown with tea yet, so that might be a nice treat for him, ahem, us, to show this time.

Teddy mentioned that in case everyone doesn't know it, bears love honey in their tea. I told Teddy I think people get that. Teddy then mumbled something about asking everyone to send him honey in the bear shaped containers, and I told him we already have more than enough of those in the cupboard, because of him insisting I buy some every time I go out anywhere. We settled on me posting an art piece featuring a tea cup, for T-Day, as our ticket into the group gathering.

I tried to make a few story people art pieces. I also entered Tag Tuesday, Try it on Tuesday, and Moo Mania and More this past week.

I took some photos of "the cat" to share with everyone. Teddy complained that he wasn't in the photos. I told him I had a hard enough time getting the cat to sit still, to get any good photos. (Yes, those are my legs in there. He clings to me like a dog, which I love, but it makes it nearly impossible to get a good snapshot of him.)

I was this week's guest host for Sunday Postcard Art, and I chose the theme of "The Sun." Next week the theme is Masquerade. I hope some of you consider joining us there, because everyone is friendly and welcoming of new contributors. All mediums are allowed, as long as your artwork is 4" x 6" or 6" x 4".

To end our Sunday, we watched Dragonwyck. If you like classic old movies, I recommend seeing it.

Then we had Shepherd's Pie for dinner.

"The Sun - Sunrise" - Postcard

© All Rights Reserved

This week I have the honor of being the guest host at Sunday Postcard Art and I chose the theme of "The Sun."

I hope everyone has fun with the theme. I can't wait to see what everyone creates. I'll be by to visit everyone during the week.

For my piece, I started with the woman wearing the sunrise dress, and then created the scene around her. I added the sun / moon / fan couple but modified the colors to be more yellow. The dark blue border matched the color of the moon, and the smaller flowers within it reminded me of stars, so I used it as my symbolic night sky which was fading at dawn. I added the radiating sun spokes in the background, to line up with the sun on her dress and enhance the appearance of the rising sun.
