Despite New York City having daily record breaking numbers of covid-19 cases, higher than they've ever seen before, even at the previous "height of the pandemic", their Dec 31, 2021 New Year's Eve Celebration / Times Square Ball Drop will happen, just like it did in 2020. I knew they wouldn't cancel it this year.

This year's "scaled back" New York City New Year's Eve extravaganza will be fifteen thousand (15,000) double vaxxed / triple vaxxed people converging in Times Square, wearing masks. Last year, despite covid-19 cases in New York City being significantly higher at the end of December 2020, compared to September 2020, the Ball Drop occurred, but the "Never Forget 9/11/2001" memorial service (in September 2020) was cancelled.

This is 1 of 2 posts of photographs that I took this week.

Dec 31, 2021 update: per a response from https://www.nyantler-outdoors.com, this is not a piebald deer.

I saw this deer in my yard and got my camera when I realized it appeared to have a partially missing back right leg. I assumed it had been hit by a car or attacked by coyotes but survived the injury it had sustained.

However, as I watched the deer walking, it looked like it was attempting to extend its back right leg as if it had a normal length leg there. But the leg, which only extended a few inches past the elbow joint, was too short to touch the ground. Another feature of the deer seemed unusual: it had what looked like a white ring of fur around the base of its nose.

Upon closer examination of my photographs, it almost looks like the deer actually has an ankle and hoof on the back right leg when it is walking (i.e. extending the legs in motion), but that hoof is retracted inward when the deer is standing eating. So it seems like this could be a malformed right back leg, not an injury as I initially thought.

I did some Internet searching, and it is possible this is a piebald deer.

Any comments assisting in identification of what might be going on with this deer are appreciated. I don’t know when I will see this deer again, because deer typically range over a large territory.

This week's Three Muses challenge theme was "It's TIME for new beginnings!"

Despite New York City having daily record breaking numbers of covid-19 cases, higher than they've ever seen before, even at the previous "height of the pandemic", their Dec 31, 2021 New Year's Eve Celebration / Times Square Ball Drop will happen, just like it did in 2020. I knew they wouldn't cancel it this year.

The ad revenue money generating show must go on, despite ever more dire news stories about medical facilities facing staffing shortages due to vaccinated staff catching covid-19 and needing to quarantine at home for ten (10) days. Then, on December 23, 2021, the CDC changed their quarantine rules, but only for health workers, saying they only needed to quarantine for five (5) days, but everyone else still has to do it for ten (10) days. I wonder if they'll expand that rule change to cover airline staff next.

December 27, 2021 update: Now the CDC says, "Everyone, regardless of vaccination status" only needs to quarantine for five (5) days. Yeah, that is based on Science, and has nothing to do with all of those US Airline Flight Cancellations Christmas Eve and weekend. Amazingly, the CDC didn't know that Science on December 23 (four days earlier), when they said health workers only needed to quarantine for 5 days, but everyone else still had to quarantine for 10 days.

The vaxxed revelers won't have to worry about Biden's stark warning of a "Winter of Death" because that message only applies to the unvaccinated. Those "rare" "breakthrough" cases, where the triple vaxxed caught covid-19 are rare, and Pfizer said they'll have their Omicron specific vaccine ready by March 2022, so then people can become quadruple vaxxed. But because it will most likely be another two dose shot, spaced about one month apart, probably plus a booster shot three months or less after that, they will become the quintuple or sextuple vaxxed.

I'll be reading the news, to learn what New York City decides to do about this year's (Dec 31, 2021) New Year's Eve Celebration / Times Square Ball Drop. Last year, despite covid-19 cases in New York City being significantly higher at the end of December 2020, compared to September 2020, the Ball Drop occurred, but the "Never Forget 9/11/2001" memorial service (in September 2020) was cancelled. I wonder what, if any, influence the "Winter of Death" Narrative will have on the Ball Drop.

I know people who have died from covid-19, but I also know people who have had severe adverse reactions caused by the covid-19 vaccine. I should not even have to explain myself, by mentioning that, yet in the alleged "most free country" in the world (the United States), one is allowed to talk openly about one of those topics, but not the other.

How many double vaxxed who don't become triple vaxxed will be fired in this elimination round?

I took those photographs of the Blood Moon (almost total lunar eclipse) early this morning (November 19, 2021).

This was a Full Moon, and because of the lunar eclipse, it is also called a Blood Moon. It was fantastic to get to see it! Unfortunately, I didn't get any good photographs of it. The ones shown here are in chronological order, as the eclipse reached its peak. The overnight rain clouds were mostly cleared out, when I took these.
