I took those photographs at Putnam Memorial State Park in Redding, CT this past week.

That raptor landed on the swing set in the park. I think it is a Red-tailed Hawk, but I'm not certain. If anyone can provide an identification, I will appreciate it. (Note: the swings had been removed from the swing set, due to covid-19 precautions taken by the State of Connecticut.)

Beautiful photos, but I haven't a clue about birds, so your guess is probably a lot better than mine would be. Sounds like your cat is doing well enough to be left alone, now, too.

Majestic bird!
I haven´t seen one for real ever...
(haha, maybe too cold over here ;-)...)

It is in fact a Red-tailed Hawk, no doubt taking advantage of a quiet perch in the park with no noisy children on the swings. Nice shots!

Fabulous photos Anne. The hawk ones are certainly a good catch. It must have felt pretty safe to sit so still so long for you to snap these photos. Happy July 4 weekend Anne. Hugs-Erika

Red-tailed hawks are regulars around here. Larger than anything else I see.

I wouldn't know one species from another, just that they are beautiful and you did a splendid job of capturing it.
