I took these photographs at the 9-11 Memorial at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, CT today. Someone left flowers on car windshields, so that the car owners could place them at the memorial. This man was carrying a "Flag of Honor" that was made for the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Today marks 18 years since we were attacked.

"Prior to September 11, 2001 the twin towers of the World Trade Center were visible from Sherwood Island. On September 11, 2001 and for several days following, smoke from the former World Trade Center was visible from this location."

Map showing line of sight from this memorial to Manhattan.

I prefer not to share my memories of 9/11/2001. As long as I am cognizant, I will never forget this day.

I was glad you shared the link to the living memorial and how close you were to this tragedy. I can now see and understand why you wouldn't want to talk about it. Wonderful photo and so nice of someone to leave the flowers so people could share them at the memorial. I'd be interested to see the bio-plaques that were created from WTC artifacts.

I love the photos Anne. This looks like such a beautiful area. I think I need to explore the CT coastal area. I haven't done too much exploring in CT, (I've driven through a lot and have visited maybe a dozen times) the one state in New England I can't say I know too well. Happy FRiday. Hugs-Erika
