Soooo... the forecast isn't looking too good for my location here in Connecticut. For those not familiar with the "nuances" of the geography here, Long Island Sound is the salt water body of water between Connecticut (CT) and Long Island, New York (NY). It is about 18 miles (29 km) across, from Bridgeport, CT to Port Jefferson, NY.
As of this morning, Henri is forecast to strengthen to a hurricane later today, weaken to a very strong Tropical Storm overnight, and make landfall in Long Island Sunday afternoon. However, Long Island varies in width from 12 to 20 miles (19.3 km to 32.2 km) wide, so the storm won't lose much energy as it crosses Long Island, goes back over water (Long Island Sound) briefly, then makes a second land fall in Connecticut.
The local weather guy said the Connecticut landfall is currently forecast to occur on the border between New Haven and Fairfield Counties. The track could change between now and then, but as of now, they are forecasting extensive damage. Due to the geography of this area, and the track of the storm, the storm winds will push water from east to west in Long Island Sound. Combined with a Full Moon, the storm surge will be at its worse. Then add the wind and rain on top of that.
This forecast has me dreading a repeat of Tropical Storm Isaias. The local weather guy said this storm will be worse than that one was. But there is nothing I can do about it, other than storm preparation.

The storm changed track drastically because last night, the eye of the storm was set to move right over my town. Now the track is further West of us. A little better though we are now on the wind side of the storm with winds predicted at 50-60 mph. I'm bringing in all the lawn stuff and taking down the bird feeders this evening. I'm trying not to look at the trees in my yard or neighbors yards While the heaviest of rains are to the west, we're still predicted to get 2-3 inches of rain. After the heavy rains and flooding in the area from Fred on Friday, the ground is too saturated to take much more rain. I hope the French drain and sump pump can keep the water out of the basement. I'm trying not to borrow trouble. Fingers crossed for your area. 🍀🤞
It seems that no matter where in the world we live the weather patterns have caused more problems this year.

We don't get hurricanes here in Memphis, and I can't even imagine. Scary! I hope it passes you by without damage.
