I took these photographs on September 22, 2017 in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, in Sleepy Hollow, NY.

This is the grave site of "the man" himself, Washington Irving. As a point of reference, the Benedict Mausoleum is in the background. There are free cemetery maps in boxes at the entrances.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, by Washington Irving, is one of my favorite stories! Sleepy Hollow, NY is near the Tappan Zee Bridge and is about a 45 minute drive for me to get to. It is exciting enough just to get to see the village, bridge, and church where the story took place, and to roam around the cemeteries. But on this visit, I was able go inside the Old Dutch Church in one of those perfect timing lucky moments! (See additional blog posts for more photos and details.)
