This is 2 of 2 posts of photographs I took of a Little Egret at Southport Beach in Fairfield, CT this past week.

The tide was coming in as I photographed this bird. Over time, I was able to creep closer and closer to him. Eventually, he stopped moving, and stood while the water got deeper around him. I finally realized he wasn't going to move any closer to higher ground while I was standing there. I also realized the tide was starting to encircle the area where I was standing, and I was fast running out of time to retreat to shore without getting my feet wet. I went back to the shore, and sure enough, he moved to the area where I had been, and resumed hunting for food.
