I recently took these photographs during a day trip visit to Mercy by the Sea in Madison, CT.

Mercy by the Sea is a Retreat and Conference Center run by the Sisters of Mercy. Visitors are allowed to go there on their own, as long as they sign in at the front desk and get a day pass. They accept free will donations.

The grounds are located on Long Island Sound, and offer a peaceful place to relax and reflect. There is also a Labyrinth by the Statue of Mary, where they have Full Moon Labyrinth Walks.

"Celestial Signs" - Postcard

This week's Sunday Postcard Art challenge was "Star Gazing."

This is 1 of 2 postcards that I made using the same overall images, but with slightly different text.

I started this with a planets/zodiac background. Next, I blotted on dark blue and light blue splotches of color. I "stamped" a moon, stars and clouds overlay. I "stenciled" on stars and circles within the clouds. I added a thin line of clouds going from the moon to the girl's face. Then I placed the girl on this. Lastly, I added the words.

I created this using GIMP 2.8.22.
