I took that photograph this past week.

These decorative taper candle holders are slightly oversized, so I am unable to put taper candles in them, which is disappointing.

I made this Dark Raven wood box using a paper cigar box.

It is actually a "redo" of a box that got water damage on the bottom. I painted over the edges of the original design using Martha Stewart Vintage Gold Metallic Paint (346 433 / M18121), using one coat of paint. But I left the bottom as is.

(Note: I intentionally left the cigar labels on the box, and fully or partially decoupaged over them.)

The steps are similar to the ones here.

I took that photograph this morning. The almost full moon is waning gibbous. There was a thin cloud cover over it, giving it this misty, distorted appearance.

Black Metal Hanging Solar Lanterns Stars Lights - Photograph

I took those photographs this past week.

It's hard to see because it's dark, but this black metal hanging solar lantern has stars and circles cut into it, which form patterns on the ground. This lantern has a handle, so it can be hung or placed on a table top. Sometimes one needs a little magic in one's life, to brighten it. This lantern continues to do that for me.

-----

AUTUMN

OVER her dreaming face she flings
Forgetfulness, nor seems to hear,
Above the waning of her year,
A passing sob of wood-doves' wings.

As one, that in a magic swoon,
Remembering not slow time's advance,
Might find her face o'er-brushed perchance
Of bat-wings at the bud of moon,

And say, with murmur of her lips,
"Low fly the swallows in the sun:
"I will awake when heat is done,
"And all the weary daylight dips."

Even so she sleeps; and wakes aware
Only at parting of her joys,
When the wood's multitudinous voice
Goes chilled and chidden through the air.

Then all her shining visage thrills
With pain, crowned round with shattered gold;
Her gracious hands unlock their hold
On all the purple leaning hills.

And wood-sprites learn a sudden lore
From that wild death upon her face;
And, as they strip her empty place,
White strangers foot it to the door.

I look inside myself and see my heart is black.
I see my red door and must have it painted black.
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts.
It's not easy facing up when your whole world is black.
