This week's Sunday Postcard Art challenge theme was "Old Age."
I struggled with what to do for this, and finally had to enforce my "paint brush down" (time is up!) rule on myself. (I'm not 100% happy with my piece.)
I created this using GIMP 2.10.24.
The vintage images are from an Internet search. (See the side of my blog for links.)
-----
Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number —
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you —
Ye are many — they are few.
The Mask of Anarchy - Percy Bysshe Shelley
And on the pedestal these words appear:
'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."
Ozymandias - Percy Bysshe Shelley
"Old Age" as in years of life? Or as a by gone time? The latter is how I interpreted this and I found the image very hopeful. The figures moving forward. The night will change to a new day.
ReplyDeleteI think the images work well together.
