"Hyena" - Postcard

I thought this animal looked more like a wolf, but the book I found it in said this is a hyena.

I created this using GIMP 2.10.24.

Where is the laughing hyena? Or is that a misnomer?

    I thought hyenas were spotted and had short fur. Maybe this is a prehistoric hyena?

    That is one angry looking hyena. I know they are pretty predatory, but this guy looks vicious. Hope you are staying cool. Happy weekend too.
