I took that photograph at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, CT this past week.

I was thrilled to get a photo of this beautiful butterfly, who was very elusive.

  2. Wow! I haven't seen many butterflies this year and never saw one so late in the year

  3. We raised a few Monarchs indoors this year. We have done so for years but may not do it next year. There is good evidence that being removed from the night sky may interfere with a Monarch's ability to migrate. We want to help them not harm them!

  4. I didn't see a single monarch this year, but did see a few swallowtails. You were very lucky to capture this.

  5. Beautiful photo! Monarch butterflies are my favorite! I have seen them in previous trips to Madison in the shoreline area. It is amazing they fly all the way to Mexico to winter over. I remember seeing a documentary about this.
