I took these photographs on one of the north trails off Rock House Rd in Easton, CT this past week. This trail is part of the Centennial Watershed State Forest Aspetuck Trail. The official trail map must be carried as one's permit for access to the area.
With regard to why a permit is needed on these particular hiking trails: they are on land that the public water supply flows through. So they have rules for what you can and can't do there, and if you get caught in there without a permit (which is the trail map), you can be fined / arrested.
This north trail has a hidden gem on it only about 15 minutes walk north of the road: a stone wall dam / waterfall! The trail also parallels the water, which makes for a tranquil, enjoyable setting.
Approximate GPS location for parking on Rock House Road: 41.286599, -73.331555
Nice landscape views.
ReplyDeleteThose photos are absolutely beautiful. Nice captures and have a wonderful weekend, Anne.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather see the area without snow. Spring, Summer, or even Fall. Have a good weekend and stay dry
ReplyDelete...a winter delight.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, it looks very cold! Valerie

ReplyDeleteVery pretty woodland scene Anne. The stream looks pretty against the snow. I see you have some snow, just like we do. But after night's rain, who knows. Hope all is well. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful photo, Anne. The scenery looks quite peaceful and the snow is more than we got in Kansas. It's a lovely scene.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely waterfall tucked away in the woods!
