This is 2 of 3 posts of photographs that I took at Lonetown Marsh Sanctuary in Redding, CT this past week.

Surprisingly, the bugs and mosquitoes weren't too bad here.

Most of the trail to the wood platform was wooden planks that were broken and/or rotted out in some places. There was one section of the trail where it was a brief walk through a muddy area, before the planks resumed. This path led to a wood platform observation deck.

This is the Lonetown Marsh Sanctuary trail map.

  1. Looks like a bit of trail maintenance might be called for, but it seems nearly impossible to keep up with trail maintenance. Around here volunteer groups organize every once in a while but can't keep up with what the weather does. Still, it sounds like that trail is doable even if you can't stay on the boardwalk the whole way. The ferns are gorgeous.
