"Altered Postcard" - Postcard

This week’s Sunday Postcard Art challenge was "Alter A Postcard."

I started with this free Red Roses Easter Postcard. I cut out just the postcard, and enlarged it to fit on a 6" x 4" postcard. I added a vintage page as the underlying background, to cover the full postcard size. I used sponge brushes to cover over most of the text on the original postcard. Then I added the foreground images and text.

I created this using GIMP 2.8.16.

The vintage images are from an Internet search. (See the side of my blog for links.)

Thank you if you leave a comment. I apologize if I don't reciprocate. Also, my artwork posts might be sporadic for awhile.

"Pair" - Postcard

This week’s Take a Word challenge was "Twosome/Pair/Duo."

I have two sets of pairs:  a pair of birds (2x), and a pair of theatre masks (2x). I also wanted this piece to illicit a feeling of ordered disorder. But I think the end result borders on a chaotic mess, instead.

I created this using GIMP 2.8.16.

Lone White Dogwood Flower On Ground - Photograph

© All Rights Reserved

I took this photograph on Saturday, May 07, 2016. It had rained and/or been cloudy here for a week by then. My Dogwood tree was flowering. I noticed this lone white Dogwood flower on the ground. Apparently Nature struck it down. I got my camera and took a few photographs, and then the rain started. This year I did not take any photos of my flowering tree.

I think these are Brant. I saw them here last year around this time. I think they were passing through as they migrated further North.

I created this for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2016 - May challenge.

I mimicked Tim's steps to create my tag, but I made mine somewhat differently than his. I included the intermediate steps, to show how I made mine.

I created this using GIMP 2.8.16.

The vintage images are from an Internet search. (See the side of my blog for links.)

Because my artwork is digital, and Tim Holtz's challenge is intended for people who buy his products, I don't usually post my tags on his site. So far this year I have been entering his challenge, but I receive few, if any, comments from all of the other artists who enter his challenge. So this will be the last time I post my link to his challenge. I will continue making tags for his challenge, but not post them on his site.

Updated note: I tried to post my entry on his site, but it was automatically deleted after appearing in the "inlinkz" initially.
