These are some photographs that I took at Union Cemetery in Easton, CT this past week.

With Hallowe'en just a few days away, I thought I would revisit this cemetery during the day. This place is allegedly one of the most haunted locations in Connecticut, but I don't think there is any truth to the stories surrounding it.

Union Cemetery is located in the triangle formed by the intersection of Route 59 (Sport Hill Road), Route 136 (Stepney Road), and Church Road. But be advised that at this time of year, the Easton Police Department strictly enforces the "Area Closed From Sunset To Sunrise" sign.

This is 1 of 4 posts of photographs that I took at Greenfield Hill Cemetery in Fairfield, CT this past week.

Hallowe'en is one week from today! The Fall foliage is at or past peak here where I live.

At this time of year, the sound of walking through rustling leaves makes me think of childhood Trick or Treating! As a child, the anticipation was almost unbearable by now. I would have been too terrified to venture into a cemetery back then, even during the day, but as an adult, I find enjoyment and tranquility visiting them.

This skull and cross bones gravestone is my favorite one! Unfortunately lichen is covering part of the bone, which was clear back in May of 2011.

This gravestone is on the left side of the cemetery, relative to the center entrance.

With Hallowe'en only one week from today, I wanted to get some spooky looking gravestone photographs. These are skull and wings gravestones with varying amounts of lichen covering them. The first one looked particularly evil and spooky!

Black Pirate Boat Skulking Around Fairfield! - Photograph

This is 1 of 3 posts of photographs that I took in the Ash Creek Open Space walking area in Fairfield, CT this past week.

The Fairfield Marina is located here as well. I was thrilled when I spotted this Black Pirate Boat docked near the boat launching area! Okay, so it's not a real Pirate Ship and it wasn't really skulking around, but it looks great!

The name of this black boat is Barnacle and it bears a skull and cross bones. That's what first caught my eye, with it being only a few weeks until Hallowe'en. But then I realized it was a Pirate boat, and phrases like "Barnacle Bill the Sailor" and "Yo, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum!" came to mind.

That red boat in the background is the Fairfield Fire Department boat, which is always docked in that position, for quick deployment when they get calls for emergencies out on the water. (I think it's also one of the last boats to get dry docked when Winter approaches, but I could be mistaken.)

This bird of prey flew into a nearby tree while I was walking on a path through the woods. Unfortunately this is the only in focus shot I got, and the bird is mostly obscured by leaves. I think this is a juvenile Osprey, but I could be mistaken. Bird identification comments are welcome.
