"Beltan E'en and the Kelpie" - Postcard

© All Rights Reserved

This week’s Sunday Postcard Art challenge was "Fish."

I used some poetic license on this one. My piece is actually focused on Beltan E'en and the Kelpie. The tragic ending results in the maiden being carried down to the bottom of the sea, where the fish swim, and where she drowns.

I created this using GIMP 2.8.14.

The vintage images are from an Internet search. (See the side of my blog for links.)

The words are from the poem "The Kelpie of Corrievreckan" by Charles Mackay.

The font is Benjamin Franklin.

This week’s Tag Along challenge #103 was "Crackle."

First I created the background. Then I applied the G'MIC - Patterns - Cracks filter to it. Next I added the paper strips with words on them. I stamped stars after that. Finally, I spritzed the whole tag with gold flecks.

I created this using GIMP 2.8.14.

The vintage images are from an Internet search. (See the side of my blog for links.)

The words are from the song Toy Soldiers which is sung by Martika.

This week’s Sunday Postcard Art challenge was "Tattoos."

I went to the beat of my own drummer on this one, so it's not the conventional tattoo artwork one expects to see. I also couldn't decide which of these two pieces I liked better, so I posted both.

I created this using GIMP 2.8.14.

The vintage images are from an Internet search. (See the side of my blog for links.)

The words in the background are from the song Just Like A Tattoo which is sung by Jordin Sparks.

This is 1 of 3 posts of photographs that I took of a Woodpecker couple this week.

Whenever I put seed in my bird feeder, this male woodpecker would fly in, take a few bites, then fly off into a nearby tree. I could never get any good photos of him, because he didn't stay still long enough. When I took these shots, I finally realized what he was doing. I stopped focusing on the bird feeder and looked over at the tree. The female woodpecker (his mate) was in the tree, and he was taking seeds to feed to her!

These are photographs of the male, just before he fed the female.
