We had another snow storm last night into the early morning, that dumped about a foot of snow on the area. I95 and the Merritt were closed in various locations in the early morning, due to stranded cars and jack knifed tractor trailers. These are a few pictures of my driveway and the path leading up to my car, none of which is shoveled out yet. I added an arrow so you can figure out which mound of snow out there is my car. Almost everyone I've talked to has had enough snow and winter at this point.

"Irish Tea" – Tea Bag

The GC87 Gingersnap Creations challenge due by Feb 13 is “Tea Bag Template.” I've never created a tea bag before so I made a simple design for my first attempt. I used the dimensions of the template that was on the challenge site (mountain folds), but created the template in GIMP. This is an Irish Tea bag. The flap ends up covering part of the design on the front. I'm not sure if that's right or wrong to do. I wanted to fill the entire front with a design, and I also wanted the flap to have its own design, instead of replicating the part of the front that was beneath it. The mountain folds also have the shamrocks on them.

"Winged Man" – 4x4

© All Rights Reserved
This week’s 4x4 Friday challenge was “Winged Man.” I gave wings to a centaur, and colored them.

The words, "I'll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way," are by Alfred Noyes. Another good quote by him is, "The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas."

Snow Storm #3 - Before and After

That is my car on Jan 11, 2011, before the snow storm started. Notice the white mailbox by the street, on the right hand side of the picture.

That is my car early in the morning Jan 12, 2011. Notice the height of the snow on the garbage cans, for some perspective. And you don't see the mailbox anymore.

That is my car, after the top of the driveway was plowed. I dug a path from the bottom of the driveway to the midway point. I wondered what that black thing was that I could see in the distance. It was the side view mirror.

It's hard to tell from this picture, but I dug a path along the driver side of the car, so I would be able to get into it.

That is my mailbox. I don't remember the last time we had snow this deep, even after several snowfalls. We've been hit with three storms in a row, all dropping a lot of snow, which is unusual for us.

That is my mailbox, after I dug it out.

That is the path out to my car, which is the blob in the distance.

I still haven't cleared off my car. I did the driveway and car paths first, so I could get out. But the end of the driveway was covered with ice kicked up by the plows, so I had to clear that off too. I'm very sore now, so I'm taking a break, and the sun is going down soon, so the car situation looks iffy still. I got more than a foot, possibly two feet of snow. I'm ready for Spring.

I took these pictures the day after a Jan 07, 2011 snow storm here. Because of our proximity to Long Island Sound, we usually get heavy wet snow, and this storm was no exception.

"Celestial" - Postcard

© All Rights Reserved
This week’s Sunday Postcard Art challenge was “Celestial.” The words say Dance, Dream, Surrender your heart. This piece came together on its own. It wasn't what I originally had in mind, but I followed my muse. I'm hoping to get time to do another one, because this is a fantastic theme.
