"Lunar Volleyball"

This week’s Three Muses challenge was “Surreal.” I had a lot of problems coming up with an idea for this one. I know what surreal images look like, and viewed many examples, but I was drawing a creativity blank. So, I came up with this, but it’s pretty ordinary. The Earth and Moon pictures are from NASA and the volleyball net and ball were googled.

Oh my how surreal is this ..... who would expect the Earth to slip above the horizon to BE the volley ball?
You have a brilliant sense of fun.

I'm a sucker for dramatic NASA imagery, so I think it's great! Simple, but effective...and hey, don't I recall a sound-bite of a guy bounding weightlessly around singing, "While strolling through the park one day..."-long ago and far awaY...

Anne, you shouldn't be down-playing your wonderful surreal picture. It is cleverly creative and it works so well. Fantastic take on the theme. It would make a great poster for the 40th anniversary of the landing on the moon!

Hi Anne,
Thank you for visiting my blog. I started my blog the same time you did.

This is a fabulous image for that challenge. We do a photoshop unit with our 8th graders on surrealism and I'd love to use your image as an example-- with your permission.

Anne, I think this is a great take on surreal! You have created some very strong images that say a lot. If you look at Magritte's work he also has few images in his work but are very powerful. Great Job!!!
